Mary’s Pence funds projects in the U.S. that increase the economic security of women and amplify their voices within their communities. The organization supports efforts for systemic change that improve the status of women.

Organizations Funded
- Woman led and women focused – centered on issues women face or on gender justice issues, benefitting and primarily led by cis women, trans women, or non-binary people.
- Community centered – emerging from a need identified within the impacted community, and collaboratively developed by and led by members of that community.
- Focused on social justice values – the values of human dignity, the common good, the right to economic security and dignified work, care for the earth, participation, subsidiarity (decisions are made at the most local level possible and involve those most impacted) and nonviolence.
- Working for long term sustainable social change – addressing underlying causes of injustice by:
- Shifting public opinion about justice issues,
- Forming alliances and collaborations across diverse populations,
- Creating change in unjust structure or policies, or
- Building capacity by building skills – leadership, organizing or other skills.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations must have a budget under $250,000.
- The focus is on grassroots organizations. Those with large government grants or service contracts are generally not eligible. For questions about eligibility based on specific work, please contact the organization.
- Only organizations based in the U.S. are eligible for funding.
