The Massachusetts Farmland Partnership Program is a grant program to help implement the Massachusetts Farmland Action Plan at the local, regional or statewide level. The goal of the program is to build networks of Partners who work together collaboratively and in coordination to protect farmland, enhance farm viability, and ensure access to farmland.
Funding Information
- Minimum award is $100,000.00
- Maximum award is $1,000,000.00.
Grant Period
The fiscal years are as follows;
- FY26 – Contract start through June 30, 2026
- FY27 – July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027
- FY28 – July 1, 2027 through contract end (October 31, 2027).
Eligible Proposals
Proposals must request funding on a reimbursement basis for services to support the goals of the MFAP through at least one of the following eligible activity types:
- Activity 1 – Farmland Protection
- Activity 2 – Farmland Access
- Activity 3 – Farm Viability
- Activity 4 – All Goals.
Eligibility Criteria
Legally recognized entities, including municipalities, regional planning agencies, conservation districts, tribal governments and entities, charitable conservation organizations or trusts, or other businesses, institutions, or non-profits, that have physical address office space presence within the Commonwealth and/or conduct a significant amount of work in the Commonwealth, and have the ability to enter into a contract with the Commonwealth. They encourage applications from organizations that represent Historically Underserved Farmers, and from those that have never previously received funding from MDAR.
