The goals of the program are to enhance physical condition of Plano’s neighborhoods, increase pride and neighborhood identity, and increase community building and participation.
Funding Information
The grant is a reimbursement grant with a maximum award of $20,000 per neighborhood group of pre-tax costs.
Project Eligibility
Projects must be within the City of Plano limits and expected to generally benefit both residents of the neighborhood and the public at large. Projects must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the grant:
- New Project: Projects must have not been in previously funded locations within the past seven (7) years and are an improvement to the existing conditions. Exceptions may be granted solely at the discretion of the Neighborhood Engagement Manager for special climate events. Reasons for an exception must be documented in the application.
- Project Visibility/Public Benefit: Projects must be visible or accessible from a “Type F” thoroughfare or higher based on the Thoroughfare Plan in the City’s Comprehensive Plan or accessible or visible from Park Trails greater than five (5) miles one way as identified by Parks and Recreation. Projects along trails are subject to the approval of Parks and Recreation. Neighborhood sign toppers may be located throughout the neighborhood.
Eligibility Criteria
Neighborhood groups must be registered with Neighborhood Services to participate in the Neighborhood Vitality and Beautification Grant. Confirmation of registration and your neighborhood group type can be found by visiting the Neighborhood Resources Map.
The following neighborhood group types are eligible to participate in the grant:
- Mandatory Homeowners Associations (HOA-M)
- Voluntary Homeowners Associations (HOA-V)
- Neighborhood Associations (NA)
- Condominium Associations (CA)
- Crime Watch Groups (CW).
