Details:

Green Resiliency Grants is designed to support flood-prone communities in implementing transformative green infrastructure projects that combat the effects of extreme weather.

The Green Innovation Grant Program supports projects across New York State that utilize unique EPA-designated green stormwater infrastructure design and create cutting-edge green technologies. Competitive grants are awarded to projects that implement one or more of the following green practices: green stormwater infrastructure, energy efficiency, water efficiency and environmental innovation.

Green infrastructure projects provide benefits such as:

  • Safer, more resilient communities: Managing stormwater to mitigate flooding and better protect the homes and businesses.
  • Cleaner water and air: Reducing and treating stormwater at the source.
  • Cooler cities: Reducing urban heat island effect to create a more comfortable environment.
  • Thriving ecosystems: Restoring habitats to bring nature back to communities.
  • Vibrant communities: Encouraging economic development, revitalizing neighborhoods, and enhancing recreational opportunities.

Eligible Activities

  • Regional Green Infrastructure projects utilize nature-based solutions to establish or restore natural landscape features that improve water quality and support healthy watersheds, while also protecting wildlife and their habitats.
  • Local Green Infrastructure projects are typically located in an urban environment and consist of site and neighborhood specific SMPs. These projects typically provide co-benefits such as reduced CSO and SSO events, flood protection, habitat restoration, improved air and water quality, reduction in urban heat island effect, and street and neighborhood beautification that can spur economic development and community revitalization.
