Funding Information
A total of $1,000,000 is available for this grant program. A maximum of $50,000 is available per award. Minimum grant amount is $20,000.

March 1, 2025 to September 15, 2025.
Eligible Costs
- Salary/Wages
- Staff salaries to establish and implement a plan to build community capacity to maintain food gardens, such as in schools or government-subsidized areas.
- Staff salaries to teach food gardening concepts that reinforce the beneficial nutrition and physical activity aspects of food gardening.
- Fringe
- Insurance related to staff.
- Travel
- Travel or mileage to transport program materials.
- Space/Property/Utilities
- Utilities such as water, electricity, gas, or phone bills that directly support the project.
- Operating Expenses
- Purchase of seeds, edible plants, small gardening tools, and supplies such as fertilizer and potting soil to assist in developing school and community food gardening projects.
- All purchases must be inventoried to ensure the same types of equipment are not being purchased annually by the same provider.
- Nutrition education materials and supplies such as the printing of USDA-approved materials.
- Nutrition Education Reinforcement Materials (NERI) purchases not to exceed $7.
- Administrative costs must be directly outlined.
- Administrative costs not to exceed 15% of project budget.
- Purchase of seeds, edible plants, small gardening tools, and supplies such as fertilizer and potting soil to assist in developing school and community food gardening projects.
