- Education
- Delivering or enhancing educational opportunities, access to learning resources, and skill-building opportunities; investing in innovative learning opportunities to ensure all students in New Hanover County have access to quality education, resources, and pathways to success.
- Social & Health Equity
- Providing or improving access to resources for optimal health and well-being; advancing programs and initiatives that promote access to resources, and equitable opportunities for all members of the community.
- Community Safety
- Helping to create safe and supportive environments for all residents; strengthening neighborhood initiatives and partnerships, and promoting community resilience and engagement.
- Community Development
- Promoting economic and community development, creating welcoming environments, and fostering community cohesion; supporting economic growth, affordable housing, and infrastructure improvements to build a thriving and sustainable community.
Types of Grants
- The Community Grants will support programs, services, projects, or initiatives like summer programs, after-school activities, school supplies, arts programs, and community beautification efforts to bring impactful ideas to life.
- The Capacity Grants will assist with field building and organizational development, such as governance, strategic planning, professional development, leadership development, board development, fundraising, research, and data organization. Specific examples include tech and software licenses, conference fees, professional development, memberships, strategic planning, internships, externships, and grant writing.
Funding Information
The maximum award currently is $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- New Hanover County organizations classified as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- New Hanover County public agencies, including state and local government entities.
- New or emerging organizations without 501(c)(3) status may apply through a tax-exempt organization acting as a fiscal sponsor.
