The Powers Lake Area Community Foundation is accepting grant applications for projects that address urgent local needs in the Powers Lake area. Each year, the foundation supports initiatives that aim to improve the community, with funding amounts and the number of grants determined by the size of the fund.
This foundation is a component of the North Dakota Community Foundation, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization under IRS code 501(c)(3). NDCF handles financial management, allowing local volunteers to focus on community outreach and growing the fund.
Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or government agencies. Projects should serve the general needs of the Powers Lake region, with an emphasis on equitable support throughout the county. Proposals that benefit a larger portion of the community will be prioritized.
Grants may be awarded in full or in part, and the Advisory Committee may allow deadline extensions or add new application periods. Example projects include new playgrounds, tree planting in parks, school technology upgrades, food pantry programs, community shelters, healthcare facility improvements, and equipment needs for emergency services.
Grants will not be awarded to individuals, national organizations, or projects involving political or controversial agendas. Routine operating expenses are a lower priority, and religious organizations may only receive funding for non-sectarian programs that serve the broader community.
The application deadline is September 29, 2025.
