The Northwest Kansas Early Childhood Sustainability Grant Fund aims to support licensed childcare centers and qualified family childcare homes in sustaining quality early education services. This grant is offered through a partnership between the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, the State of Kansas via the Children’s Cabinet, and the Patterson Family Foundation.
Eligible organizations must be located within the 26-county service area covered by the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. This area includes counties such as Cheyenne, Cloud, Decatur, Ellis, Ellsworth, Gove, Graham, Jewell, Lincoln, Logan, Mitchell, Norton, Osborne, Ottawa, Phillips, Rawlins, Republic, Rooks, Russell, Saline, Sheridan, Sherman, Smith, Thomas, Trego, and Wallace.
Applicants may include nonprofit organizations, public school districts, private schools with verified charitable status, and governmental organizations. Childcare facilities must be licensed and in good standing with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). They must operate within KDHE staffing ratios and accept children from two weeks to six years old.
Eligible childcare centers should accept subsidy payments from the Department of Children and Families (DCF), be open at least six hours but less than 24 hours per day, and must not be located in a provider’s home. Facilities must have nonprofit status or an equivalent designation, such as a church, government entity, or public school.
