The NOVA Parks Outdoors Kids Grants will provide funding to eligible Title-I schools to cover the cost of transportation or other expenses which may present a barrier for students to access NOVA Parks. Accepted grantees will be able to select from a list of NOVA Parks, and student’s will experience an SOL-based outdoor field trip, during school hours, at no cost.
The mission of the NOVA Parks Roving Naturalist Program is to connect the citizens of northern Virginia with the natural world in parks. Experienced naturalists offer many opportunities for students and teachers to learn through hands-on exploration, interpretative slideshows, live animal presentations, nature walks, and other experiences depending on the park location. All school programs can be tailored to meet Virginia Science Standards of Learning.
Eligibility Criteria
- Title-I Public elementary and middle schools located in Northern Virginia are all eligible to apply.
- Schools are limited to one application per classroom each year.
- Applications that are incomplete or late will not be considered.
