This NOFO will support states, local and Tribal jurisdictions to implement prevention and intervention programs and strategies that identify, respond to, treat, and support children, youth, and families impacted by opioid, stimulant, and other substance use disorders. OJJDP expects applicants to partner with law enforcement, criminal and juvenile justice agencies, schools, mental health service providers, child welfare agencies, community health agencies, and community-based organizations that encounter and address the needs of individuals and families experiencing substance use.
Goals and Objectives
- Implement programs and provide services to youth and families impacted by opioid, stimulant, and other substance use disorders.
- Objective 1: Implement prevention, intervention, and treatment programs that address the needs of pregnant and postpartum women, parents, and youth; implement integrated services for parents and children that support families through treatment and recovery; reduce foster care system involvement; and support the juvenile and criminal justice systems to address the needs of children and youth impacted by opioids. This work should be done in partnership with representatives from law enforcement, education, probation and community supervision, juvenile court, mental health service providers, medical physicians/examiners, prosecutors, community-based organizations that address substance use, child welfare agencies, child protective services, first responders, and other community health agencies.
