Goals
- Category 1: Tribal Youth Resource Center
- The goal of this category is to support and enhance Tribal efforts through TTA to prevent, reduce, and respond to youth delinquency and to strengthen fair and beneficial responses for American Indian/Alaskan Native youth who come into contact with the juvenile justice system.
- Category 2: Tribal Youth Leadership and Partnership Initiative
- The goal of this category is to engage American Indian/Alaskan Native youth and youth-serving programs in efforts to promote leadership development in order to enhance protective factors and reduce risk factors for youth delinquency. This program is also expected to prepare Tribal youth for future opportunities to partner with OJJDP as young adults.
- Category 3: State, Local, and Tribal Partnerships
- To Support Justice-Involved Tribal Youth The goal of this category is to assist states in fostering and strengthening respectful, effective, collaborative partnerships between state and local juvenile justice systems and Tribes to improve system responses for justice-involved Tribal youth and their families.
Objectives
- Category 1: Tribal Youth Resource Center
- The objectives of this category include the development and implementation of TTA for OJJDP grantees funded under the Tribal Youth Program and the Tribal Youth Healing to Wellness Courts Program, and for Tribes not currently receiving OJJDP funding; supporting a Tribal Youth Justice Fellowship program; and the delivery of TTA at the request of OJJDP with a focus on providing support for OJJDP initiatives and OJJDP-funded TTA efforts that will impact Tribal youth and juvenile justice systems.
- Category 2: Tribal Youth Leadership and Partnerships Initiative
- The objective of this category is to coordinate and implement a peer-led initiative that focuses on Tribal youth leadership development, to include peer-led trainings that build leadership skills focused on reducing risk factors for juvenile crime and enhancing protective factors for youth accountability.
- Category 3: State, Local, and Tribal Partnerships
- To Support Justice-Involved Tribal Youth The objective of this category is to enhance state, local, and Tribal partnerships to create Tribal youth notification processes; enhance coordination to improve access to culturally responsive services to justice-involved Tribal youth; and include youth voice in policy development as it relates to this effort.
