The Organization Project Grant supports the production of creative activities, the creation of new work, and the continuation of existing arts programs by organizations

Details:

Cultural organizations, K- 12 schools, municipalities, tribal entities and non-art 501(c)(3) organizations may apply. Public schools must apply through their school district. Projects can be in any artistic discipline and on any scale and must take place between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025.

As continue to expand reach to all people living in Maine, they are committed to offer opportunities that are accessible to people historically under-resourced in the arts, including people who speak languages other than English, people with disabilities, people who are LGBTQIA+, people living in rural areas, and people from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. In upholding our responsibility to cultural equity, we strongly encourage applications from candidates with connections in these communities and from all counties across the state.

Eligible Expenses

Awards may be used for the creation of work and the advancement of their artistic goals for things like:

  • Materials or equipment
  • Productions or installations
  • Planning and preparation
  • Tours or Exhibition costs
  • Workshops
  • Hiring artists
  • Collaborative programming with other organizations
  • Costs for ensuring your programs are accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities

Eligibility Criteria

An applicant is eligible to apply if they meet the following criteria:

  • Is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service, a school, or is a unit of municipal, county or tribal government, legally established in the state of Maine. Non-501(c)(3) applicants can not apply under a fiscal sponsor or agent.
  • Operates within the state of Maine.
  • Has a valid UEI number. You cannot receive a grant without a valid UEI.
  • If applicable, has completed all Final Reports, required by the Maine Arts Commission for previous awards.
  • Is compliant with organization requirements on both the state and federal level.

Notes:

  • An applicant cannot be awarded funds for the Organization Operations Grant (FY2024) and the Organization Project Grant (FY2025).
