An Advisory Committee reviews all applications and makes recommendations. The committee consists of the leaders of three lake-focused organizations: the Otsego Lake Association, the Watershed Supervisory Committee (Village of Cooperstown, Towns of Otsego, Middlefield and Springfield), and SUNY-Oneonta’s Biological Field Station.

The Community Foundation has allocated up to $20,000 for awards for 2026.
Eligibility criteria
- Projects that focus on the health of Otsego Lake and its watershed;
- Special consideration will be given to projects that comply with or advance the recommendations of the 9E Plan for Otsego Lake Watershed management that is now being prepared;
- Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations. Groups fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization are also eligible but must submit evidence of the sponsorship (funds will be disbursed through that sponsor, which must also provide the identifying information requested in the application).
