Details:

This grant will fund one nonprofit organization which seeks to create or bolster their own competitive grant program or programs that provide supportive services to individuals with SUD. A competitive grant program is one in which a request for funding is adjudicated against criteria set by the grantor prior to the solicitation of grant applications/proposals.

Applicants must propose to operate one or more grant programs which provide supportive services to individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorder (SUD).

Supportive services for individuals with SUD are programs which reduce non-treatment economic barriers to SUD treatment. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Funding transportation costs to and from SUD-related appointments;
  • Reimbursing childcare costs necessary for attending SUD-related appointments; and
  • Other support efforts that lead to measurable improvements in access and equity in substance use disorder care for people who identify as BIPOC, disabled, and/or LGBTQ2IA+.

Grant funds may not be used to reimburse or offset the costs of SUD treatment administered by medical professionals.

Funding Information

One grant award of up to $150,000 will be issued. Applicants may propose indirect rates of 15% or less. Applicant shall not supplant currently funded activities with grant funds. Applicant budgets may or may not be funded in their entirety, or at all. All funding decisions will be at the sole discretion of the AGO and GE Foundation.

Grant Period

Grant funds will be awarded with an anticipated start date of December 18, 2023. The maximum grant period shall not exceed December 31, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria 

Massachusetts-based nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply.

Evaluations

Program proposals and application components will be evaluated on criteria that includes the applicant’s:

  • Description of need and quality of proposal;
  • Experience supporting and/or implementing SUD prevention/treatment programming;
  • Geographic service and demographics of population(s) served;
  • Demonstrated impact in its community; and
  • Plan and ability to measure the impact of its grant-supported program.
