Details:
The purpose of this grant is first to conduct outreach and prevention activities targeting racial and ethnic minority, immigrant, refugee, and low-income residents and their children in high-risk geographic areas of the District of Columbia. Second, applicants are expected to create a capacity-building mechanism, with partners, who will provide training, education, technical support, and mobilization to improve DC communities’ ability to detect elevated blood lead levels, determine lead sources, identify risks, and provide appropriate and timely interventions.
Funding Information
- Grant funds related to work performed will be provided on a reimbursement basis.
- The amount available for the project is approximately $105,581.
Grant Period
The project will begin on the date of the Director’s approval, which is expected to be in June 2025, and end September 30, 2025.
Eligible Expenses
Typical allowable costs are:
- Rental of office space, some vehicles, and some equipment
- Employee salaries and benefits
- Contractor labor, including professional services
- Accounting and bookkeeping services
- Communications, including telephone and data services
- Printing, reproduction, including signage
- Materials and supplies
- Computers and printers
- Small tools
- Some field equipment, typically below $5,000 in value
- Postage and shipping
- Necessary travel, meals and lodging
- Insurance.

- Nonprofit organizations, including those with IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) determinations
- Universities/educational institutions.
