The Emerging Leader Grants equip and empower rising nonprofit professionals at Christian organizations who are leading, influencing, and driving change in their communities. These grants are an investment in the development of an emerging leader and the program they are leading at the intersection of poverty, violence, and inequality in the United States.
Leadership development opportunities can include any of the following or other approved opportunities such as:
- Participation in a Leadership Fundamentals course through The Center for Creative Leadership
- Attendance at the Global Leadership Summit through satellite locations
- Individualized Leadership Coaching.
Finding the Leaders
The We Raise Foundation believes investing in leaders and their programs when they are getting started can have a catalytic impact on both the program, and the kind of leader that person will be long into the future. They seek to identify leaders who possess these skills and characteristics:
- Inspires and influences others
- Clear communicator
- Visionary and strategic thinking
- Persistence and commitment
- Develops trust within their team
- Deep engagement in their community
- A calling to this work, rooted in faith in Christ.
Funding Information
Emerging Leader grants are $15,000 over two years for new programs led by emerging leaders in the earlier stage of their career at a nonprofit. Of the $15,000, $10,000 is designated for the program and $5,000 is designated exclusively for the cost of leadership development
Eligibility Criteria
- Programs at Christian 501(c)(3) nonprofits located within the United States and serving people in the United States
- Organizations serving people at the intersection of poverty, violence and inequality
- Organizations serving predominantly people of color
- Programs that are newer or ones that have significantly expanded or entirely revised
- Programs that propose a new and innovative approach
- Capital expenses essential to new programming for our grantees.
Ineligibility
- Programs outside the United States
- Grants to global organizations
- Fundraising campaigns
- Event sponsorship
- Funding to an individual (i.e. scholarships)
- Planning grants
- Advocacy and public policy focused work
- Multiple Emerging Leader grants to the same individual.
