Request for Proposals for Community Healing & Restoration Grants (California)

Dated: August 22, 2025

The California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund in partnership with Pasadena Community Foundation and UniHealth Foundation invites grant applications from nonprofit organizations, grassroots groups, healing practitioners, and community-led initiatives or coalitions to support efforts that foster community healing and restoration.

Donor Name: California Community Foundation (CCF)

State: California

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 09/12/2025

Size of the Grant: $100,000 to $500,000

Grant Duration: 2 Years

Details:

The California Community Foundation seek proposals for projects that provide community and peerbased, culturally affirming services aimed at strengthening connections, promoting collective well-being, and addressing the emotional, spiritual, and social needs of those impacted by the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

Under this Request for Proposals, the California Community Foundation seeks to fund projects that meet the following criteria:

  • Address Recovery Needs Focus on wildfire recovery in Los Angeles County by directly responding to the needs of communities impacted by the 2025 wildfires.
  • Support Community Healing and Well-being Provide comprehensive strategies, either as individual organizations or through joint partnerships, which prioritize community healing, well-being and long-term resilience.
  • Center Marginalized Communities Make a direct and meaningful impact on significant numbers of community members, with a particular focus on the most marginalized, including people of color, seniors, youth, immigrants, individuals with disabilities, and others disproportionately affected by the wildfires.
  • Promote Long-Term Recovery Advance programs, initiatives, and efforts that center community health, collective resilience, and sustain recovery, ensuring the well-being of all who were affected.

Funding Information

  • While there is no formal minimum or maximum grant amount, a request between $25,000 and $200,000 is typical.
  • Grant award recipients will receive funding for two-year community healing and restoration projects based on the proposed budget, the applicant’s organization budget (if applicable), and funding availability

Eligible Activities

Examples of activities included in proposed projects can include, but are not limited to:

  • Community Engagement & Social Connection
  • Cultural & Creative Expression
  • Wellness & Emotional Support
  • Recreational & Physical Activities
  • Community Education

Eligibility Criteria

Organizations funded by the Wildfire Recovery Fund must also meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant organization/entity must be located in or provide significant service to the areas defined by the boundaries affected by the Eaton & Palisades Fire.
  • Direct Wildfire Recovery Focus: Funding will prioritize organizations with programs directly serving individuals, families, or communities impacted by the fires. Proposals that aim to fund unrelated programs not tied to wildfire recovery or that serve the general population without a clear intentional focus on wildfire survivors will not be considered.
  • Nonprofit Status: The organization has 501(c)(3) charitable status or a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)(3) status. Entities that do not have 501(c)(3) status or a fiscal sponsorship may apply but must include both a signed W-9 and a letter of recommendation from a community partner/organization engaged in wildfire recovery efforts.
  • Partners may apply jointly; however, only one organization must be clearly defined as the lead applicant, responsible for submitting the application, managing the grant, and serving as the primary point of contact. Agencies/organizations that are not directly engaged in the actual performance or implementation of the proposed activities are not eligible for funding.
