Details:

The OneOhio Recovery Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable organization created at the direction of Ohio’s state and local leaders to distribute 55 percent of the funds the state will receive from the pharmaceutical industry as a consequence of its role in the national opioid epidemic. The Foundation works with local interests to support their substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery efforts and invest funds to support these efforts for Ohioans into the future.

Priorities

  • Prevention: A broad range of activities designed to promote wellbeing and reduce substance misuse. Includes health promotion; universal, selective and indicated prevention; primary, secondary and tertiary prevention; and early intervention. Can be delivered in school-based, community-based, health care or other settings.
  • Treatment: Delivery of treatment services for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, or efforts to increase access to and quality of these services.
  • Recovery: Activities designed to help people sustain recovery, build recovery capital and remove barriers to recovery.
  • Impacted Children and Families: Help for children affected by parental substance use and families impacted by the opioid epidemic to heal, address trauma and build resilience.
  • Harm Reduction: Public health interventions to reduce the negative impact of behavior associated with substance use, both in individuals and at the community level.
  • Crisis Response: Programs and services that support identification, intervention and crisis support in any setting of care.
  • Public Safety and First Responders: Efforts to increase public safety through collaboration with first responders and law enforcement.
  • Criminal Legal System: Activities to improve outcomes for people with substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions who are involved in the criminal legal system. Includes collaborative efforts at all stages of the criminal legal system, including courts, jails, re-entry and community corrections.
