The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) seeks proposals for funding from experienced microlending organizations and national and regional nonprofit organizations that have demonstrated experience in providing training support for microenterprise development to assist SBA in conducting a national training conference for Intermediaries participating in the SBA Microloan Program to ensure that such Intermediaries have the knowledge, skills, and understanding of microlending practice necessary to operate successful SBA microloan programs.

The purpose of the Microloan Program is to assist women, low income, veteran, and minority entrepreneurs, and other small businesses in need of small amounts of financial assistance. Under the Microloan Program, SBA makes direct loans to Intermediaries that, in turn, use the proceeds to make small loans to eligible Microborrowers.
Purpose
Eligible organizations may apply to SBA for an award of financial assistance under this Announcement to assist SBA in conducting a national training conference of all participating Microloan Program Intermediaries including (but not limited to):
- Providing logistical support such as attendee registration, training schedule and curriculum development and distribution, and guest speaker;
- Reimbursing Intermediary travel expenses to/from the conference venue;
- Reimbursing Intermediary meals and lodging (at the Federal Rate) for the duration of the conference;
- Contracting and payment for conference room (ballroom with seating in rounds sufficient to accommodate 300 people) with an additional 3 breakout rooms, each to accommodate 100 people with classroom seating;
- Contracting for a minimum block of 200 guest rooms at the conference venue;
- Contracting and payment for IT/Computer/Projection/PA equipment and support necessary to conduct the conference, both in-person and virtually; and
Contracting and payment for other expenses necessary to complete the conference that are not listed above. The conference will be conducted over a period of not less than 2 days to accommodate 16 hours of trainings and meetings.
Funding Information
SBA expects to award up to $499,000 under this announcement.
Grant Period
SBA anticipates awards will have a one-year period of performance.
