The program will provide $5 million in funding, distributing $5,000 grants to 1,000 eligible small businesses across the Southeast to support their recovery and help them build resilience against future disasters.
The program will provide a $5,000 grant to 1,000 selected businesses that meet eligibility requirements, including but not limited to the following criteria:
- Located in SBA disaster-declared counties
- Financially harmed and cannot cover costs
- Have between 1-25 employees.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to receive a grant (“Grant”) from the Grant Program, any person (or their business or a chamber of commerce) applying for a Grant (an “Applicant”) must satisfy the following requirements:
- Be a business or a chamber of commerce that employed 1-25 individuals at the time of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Helene or Hurricane Milton (the “Disaster”), including the owner, full or part time, or those working for the business under a 1099 agreement.
- A “business” means any of the following:
- Individual/sole proprietorship
- C-Corporation
- S-Corporation
- Partnership
- Limited Liability Company (C-Corporation, S-Corporation, or Partnership)
- A “chamber of commerce” means an organization recognized under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. Use of the term “business” shall also refer to a chamber of commerce.
- Have at least one physical location or online business in a primary county from U.S. Small Business Administration’s disaster declarations for the Disaster (the “Designated Disaster Area”)
- Be a business or chamber of commerce financially harmed by the Disaster
- Was not a grant recipient of the Foundation’s Small Business Readiness for Resiliency Program in 2024
- Not have sufficient financial resources to cover the business damage/loss the business experienced as a result the Disaster
- Have a valid employer identification number (EIN) issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
- Have a business bank account that accepts automated clearing house (ACH)/direct deposit
- Not be in an Ineligible Business Category (as defined below)
- Agree to these Terms and Conditions, and the terms of any grant agreement.
