The Special Projects Grant program was created to provide an opportunity for small and mid-sized arts, cultural, and other nonprofit organizations to produce and present arts and cultural projects that will benefit the Montgomery County community.
Types of Projects
- Cultural & Multi-Arts – Festivals, neighborhood events, and projects spanning more than one discipline
- Cultural Heritage – Projects that preserve, present, or celebrate regional cultural traditions
- Education – In-school residencies, community-based arts education programs
- Literary Arts – Projects featuring poets, fiction, and nonfiction authors
- Performing Arts – Theater, dance, music, opera, and musical theater productions
- Visual Arts – Exhibitions, public art installations, and projects in all mediums
Funding Information
The MCACD is providing $275,000 to support the 2026-2027 Special Projects Grant program.
Project Period
The project takes place between July 1, 2026, and December 31, 2027.
Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must document the following to be eligible:
- Organizations located in Montgomery County, or those based outside the County whose proposed project is primarily delivered to and benefits Montgomery County residents.
- Nonprofit and tax-exempt status under 501(c)(3). Collectives and other unincorporated organizations may apply in partnership with a nonprofit, tax- exempt fiscal agent.
- One application per organization, school, college, university, municipality, or government agency.
