SAFER grants provide financial assistance to help fire departments increase frontline firefighters. SAFER offers grants to support activities in two activities:
- Hiring of Firefighters
- Recruitment and Retention of Volunteer Firefighters.
The SAFER Program also aims to support objectives outlined under Mission Five in the Strategic Plan including:
- Coordinate Federal Response to Incidents
- Strengthen National Resilience
- Enhance Training and Readiness of First Responders.
