The Maine Department of Public Safety (DPS), through the Justice Assistance Council (JAC), is inviting applications for funding aimed at reducing violent crimes against women and enhancing victim services across Maine. This initiative is part of the STOP (Services, Training, Officers, Prosecution) Program, which supports a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach involving law enforcement, prosecution, the courts, and victim service providers.
The program seeks to develop and strengthen strategies for law enforcement and prosecution while improving advocacy and support for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. A total of $1,090,237 is available for FY2025, distributed across categories including victim services, law enforcement, prosecution, courts, and discretionary use.
Grants range from $100,000 to $500,000 and are awarded for a 2-year period. Eligible applicants include a wide range of organizations: law enforcement agencies, district attorney’s offices, tribal courts, victim service providers, culturally specific organizations, and nonprofit or faith-based organizations that serve survivors of violence.
The deadline to apply is August 12, 2025. This funding opportunity is a critical resource for organizations working to combat gender-based violence and improve justice and support systems throughout the state.
