A local grassroots group, Advocates for Springfield, was created to promote responsible land use in the town. Since its founding in the early 2000s, the group successfully encouraged the Town to adopt a comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance, and other land-use laws. As the Town’s governing bodies aligned with the group’s goals, Advocates for Springfield concluded it had fulfilled its mission. The group decided to use its remaining resources to benefit Springfield residents.

- Support for local nonprofit organizations that add to the fabric of the community, such as the volunteer fire department and the Library

- Groups fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization are eligible but must submit evidence of the sponsorship (Funds will be disbursed through that sponsor, which must provide the information requestions in the application.)
