The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley is inviting applications for its Cleopatra Fund Grants, which support organizations providing programs or services that promote animal welfare. These grants aim to fund projects benefiting animals in a variety of categories, including cats, dogs, retired circus animals, and retired farm animals. The program is available to organizations within the Hudson Valley region, including Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties.
Grants range from $500 to $2,000, with a maximum award of $3,000. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt and engaged in animal welfare work. The foundation prioritizes funding for programs that serve specific types of animals, with special emphasis on services for cats and dogs.
Applications will be reviewed based on the quality of the program, the organization’s capacity to carry out the work, and the clarity of the proposed budget. Reviewers will also consider the long-term impact of the project and whether it addresses root causes, rather than just immediate needs. In addition, the foundation looks for evidence of financial stability and past success in similar projects.
If your organization is focused on improving the lives of animals in the Hudson Valley, this grant could provide the funding you need to make a difference. Apply by October 15, 2025, and showcase the meaningful work you’re doing for animal welfare.
