Eugene’s Office of Equity & Community Engagement (OECE) supports the Human Rights Program for the City of Eugene and is responsible for fielding discrimination complaints related to Housing, Employment, Public access (including accessibility requests and grievances), City contracts that occur within the City of Eugene.
The City of Eugene Human Rights Commission completed a “Human Rights City Project,” supporting the City government in implementing international human rights standards and principles in its operations.
The Eugene City Council approved Resolution 5474 declaring a humanitarian crisis and providing direction to staff related to support for immigrant residents. City Council directed in contingency funds to be made available for nonprofit organizations that support local immigrant families affected by recent immigrant enforcement actions.
It is a one-time use of contingency funds to support immediate needs such as housing, food, transportation, health needs, childcare, and education. The Human Rights Commission will vet applications and decide on grant allocation.
