The purpose is to facilitate new and innovative visual and performing art projects commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution.
Funding Information
One-time, non-matching grant of up to $5,000 for activities taking place between December 1, 2025, - July 4, 2026.
Grant Period
The Guidelines cover activities taking place between July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.
Eligible Activities
New and innovative visual and performing arts initiatives commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of the nation and the American Revolution. Activities may explore the theme “Revolution of Ideas,” capture stories of the Revolutionary War, or demonstrate the continuing impact of revolutionary ideals on contemporary society. Examples include but are not limited to: public art commissions such as murals or sculptures; original performing works in theater, dance, or music; workshops or development labs leading to a public presentation; commissioned visual arts exhibitions created for the commemoration; and/or artist or speaker collaborations tied to these projects.

- Materials and supplies for the project only
- Marketing and promotion costs
- Venue rental for performance, rehearsals, exhibition
- Accessibility services (ASL interpretation, captioning, audio description, tactile or large-print materials)
- Insurance required for the specific event or installation.
Eligibility Criteria
Virginia nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations whose primary purpose is the arts (individuals, units of government, organizations using a fiscal agent, and educational institutions and their private companion foundations are not eligible).
