This new program will provide reimbursement funds (up to $500) to eligible applicants to cover costs of design and construction of approved Best Management Practices (BMP’s) projects. Project types include rain gardens, permeable pavement or impervious disconnects, rain barrels or cisterns, biofiltration practices, turf reduction (native flowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees), installing dry wells, as well as conservation scholarships (teacher’s workshops, Master Rain Gardener classes, etc.) or other BMPs deemed acceptable by Summit SWCD.
Best Management Practices (BMP’s) approaches to water management that protect the natural water cycle from pollution And help achieve healthy water motility. They are effective, economical. enhances public safety and the quality of life for residents and wildlife. BMP’s can Include shrinking lawns by planting native trees and plants, restoring wetlands by creating rain gardens, installing previous pavers and installing rain barrels.

The Summit SWCD will be accepting applications for residents, libraries, schools, churches and other organizations within the Surface Water Management District (SWMD), which includes 11 communities in Summit county listed below:

- Boston Township
- Copley Township
- Coventry Township
- Northfield Center Township
- Richfield Township
- Sagamore Hills Township
- Springfield Township
- Twinsburg Township
- Village of Lakemore
- Village of Reminderville
