Principles
Although the Foundation intends to remain flexible; the following are guiding principles.
- Requests NOT considered for funding include:
- Direct grants to individuals.
- Grants for capital purposes, current operating expenses, endowed chairs and exchange students.
- Support for Social Service Agencies.
- Online scholastic programs.
- Preference is given to:
- Private rather than public institutions.
- Agencies located in the Midwestern Region as listed: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin
- Those proposals with the most innovation, creativity and greatest need.
Eligibility Criteria
- Professional educational associations, agencies servicing women’s education and accredited degree-granting two and four-year colleges and universities are eligible to apply for grants providing the entity:
- Qualifies as tax-exempt under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 or corresponding provisions of any subsequent Federal tax law.
- Does not fall within the definition of a private foundation.
- Is organized and operates within the Midwest Region as listed in preferences.
- Grants are made to the applying institution or organization utilizing the online application form.
Criteria
The mission of The Monticello College Foundation, based on the 1843 charter, is the promotion of female education. In this regard the Board of Trustees is interested in funding projects or programs that provide educational opportunities and experiences for women.
