Uses of funds
This is a reimbursable grant. Funds can be only be used for marketing-related services, such as working with a marketing consultant, website design or redesign, creation of an e-commerce platform, creation or growth of social media and blogging platforms, email marketing, digital advertising, online reservation system and booking software, and other marketing-related services. These funds are not to be used for working capital such as rent, payroll, utilities, etc. The grantee must submit a detailed invoice and proof of payment to the Community and Economic Development office for reimbursement. Proof of payment will be required in the form of detailed bank or credit card statements, canceled checks, or receipt payments for the grant funds used toward eligible expenses. Grant funds cannot be used to pay for non-marketing-related expenses. Grants will be awarded to the small business community on a case-by-case basis.
Eligibility Criteria
The Digital Marketing Training and Grant Program is being funded through the American Rescue Planning Act (APRA) funds and small businesses that are interested in receiving grant funding must comply with the following regulations:
- Business physically located in Wakefield;
- Be Independently owned, brick-and-mortar retailer, restaurant, or personal services;
- Have at least one year remaining on business lease or proof of commercial real estate ownership;
- Be current on all taxes and owe no outstanding property fees, judgments, or liens;
- Retain at least one full-time employee excluding the owner, or multiple part-time employees equivalent to a full-time employee on payroll.
