Details:
Eligible Projects Planting vegetation can reduce greenhouse gases and provide a barrier between port-related activities and facilities, thus capturing air pollutants and minimizing noise impacts. Project goals should be reductions of air pollution, noise, greenhouse gases, and energy usage. The following project types are eligible for funding:
- Trees that reduce air pollution and noise
- Shrubs and native or drought-tolerant plants In addition, proposals must meet at least one of the project objectives as outlined of the Program Guidelines, which include:
- Capture and storage of greenhouse emissions
- Provide barriers to reduce or absorb particulate matter
Funding Information
- $300,000 is allocated for funding trees and landscaping projects.
- Up to 2 years.
Allowable Expenses
Costs directly related to implementation of the proposed project are eligible for funding. Costs not specifically identified in grant proposals will not be reimbursed. Eligible costs include:
- Design and planning
- Trees, plants, and materials(including irrigation)
- Permits
- Maintenance for up to 3 years
- Project management (i.e., personnel) and/or administrative overhead costs not to exceed 5% of the total project cost
Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must be facilities that serve sensitive populations within the Priority Zone. Sensitive populations are children, pregnant women, older adults, the chronically ill, and/or individuals with respiratory and/or cardiopulmonary disorders and illnesses. Examples of eligible facilities include daycare centers, schools, after school programs, youth centers, senior centers, recreation centers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living centers, adult day care facilities, hospitals, clinics, pre-natal centers, hospice facilities, and other related facilities licensed under the California Health and Safety Code. Public and private agencies are eligible to apply.
