Nonprofits are invited to apply for funding in the following thematic areas:
- Community Building – projects and programs that enhance social cohesion, economic development, and quality of life through programming, capacity building projects, and support for local initiatives
- Building Strong Families – support for mental health services, community resources, and collaborations that create resilient and well-supported families
- Healthcare and Helping Those with Special Needs – projects and programs that ensure access to essential medical and related services, especially for vulnerable populations.
Priority Funding Areas
UMF will prioritize high-impact investments that help strengthen an organization’s core capacities and facilitate the development of solution-based approaches to systemic issues. Priority will be given to the applications that incorporate any or all the following:
- Propose activities that use social innovation to address problems or issues.
- Propose the establishment, development, or expansion of a social enterprise endeavor.
- Propose activities that have the potential to scale up or be used as a model for other organizations.
- Include substantive collaboration with other organizations.
Funding Information
Organizations applying for one-year grants are encouraged to request between $25,000 and $50,000 in funding from UMF.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, an organization with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, or a faith-based organization seeking support for projects/programs that address non-religious needs or issues, serving diverse constituencies without regard to religious affiliation.
- Applications are invited from organizations across the United States, especially those serving the Mohawk Valley (generally defined as Oneida and Herkimer Counties in New York State).
