Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, this funding is designated to facilitate business/organizational relief. The funds will be used to address operational shortfalls that urban farming entities have because of the pandemic and, before that, longstanding inequities in economic opportunity and investment.

Supported Activities:
- Purchasing supplies (e.g., seeds, plants, topsoil, potting mix, compost, mulch, fertilizers, pest and disease control materials)
- Purchasing tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, tarps, gloves, and personal protective equipment)
- Purchasing equipment (e.g., walk-behind tractors, trailers, mowers, weed eaters, attachments)
- Completing infrastructure projects (e.g., raised beds, greenhouses, wash stations, farm stands, tool sheds, irrigation or rain catchment systems)
- Paying contract labor (e.g., construction or repair of farm infrastructure)
Eligibility Criteria
All funded projects must be located within the Birmingham city limits.
Grant funding is open to all eligible farmers. Applications are strongly encouraged from farmers who identify as Black, Indigenous, Multi-racial, or People of Color (BIMPOC).
