The goals and objectives of this program are to address the following objectives in all areas of Wyoming, as applicable:
- Use climate-smart management and sound science to enhance the health and productivity of agricultural lands.
- Lead efforts to adapt to the consequences of climate change in agriculture and forestry.
- Restore, protect, and conserve watersheds to ensure clean, abundant, and continuous provision of water resources.
- Increase food security through assistance and access to nutritious and affordable food.
- Increase capacity, sustainability, and economic vitality in rural and tribal communities.
As supported by the Wyoming NRCS Strategic Plan, tiered from the Chief’s priorities, the following topic areas will be considered for funding through a cooperative agreement.
The agreement should focus on one or more of the following objectives:
- Improve plant and forest health and productivity.
- Improve water quality and water quantity.
- Increase the awareness and adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry (CSAF) practices.
- Provide capacity for direct technical assistance to address environmental concerns for effective conservation delivery.
- Assist communities and groups to build and strengthen local food projects that provide healthy food and economic opportunities.
The agreement can meet the above objectives in a variety of ways; however, emphasis will be placed on projects that:
- Build technical capacity to implement Farm Bill Conservation Programs, including Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry (CSAF) practices.
- Build technical capacity of NRCS and partner field conservation employees.
- Leverage non-federal and non-government resources to achieve positive natural resources conservation outcomes.
- Support the NRCS in understanding outcomes associated with our conservation actions (e.g., measure value of soil health practices and principles).
- Build and support urban and community agriculture in Wyoming.

- Award Floor: $25,000
Project Period
Projects may be between 1 and 5 years in duration.
