The Rural Business Development Grant Program is to promote economic development and job creation projects through the awarding of grant funds to eligible entities.
The Agency encourages applicants to consider projects that will advance the following key priorities:
- Creating More and Better Markets. Assist rural communities to recover economically through more and better market opportunities and through improved infrastructure.
- Advancing Racial Justice, Place Based Equity, and Opportunity. Ensure all rural residents have equitable access to RD programs and benefits from RD funded projects.
- Addressing Climate Change and Environmental Justice. Reduce climate pollution and increase resilience to the impacts of climate change through economic support to rural communities.
Funding Information
Dependent upon FY 2025 appropriations. Funding is anticipated to be approximately $30 million based on FY 2024 amounts.
Grant Period
The period of time in which the grantee must initiate and complete the project is June 1, 2025, through September 30, 2027.

- Private institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education.
