Some funding is available for artists to conduct programs in private and charter schools. Additional support is provided by Reynolds American Foundation, Flow Automotive Companies, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Arts Council is the largest funder of arts education in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.

Eligible Expenses
- Administrative expenses, such as organizational and support staff, overhead costs, etc.
- Outside professional services both programmatic and artistic, such as teaching artists, program consultants, etc.
- Other program expenses, such as materials, supplies, student transportation, etc.
- The panel may restrict funding for specific elements of the proposed project.
- Projects that take place outside of the school are permitted provided the standard course of study requirement is met, and participating students are of elementary, middle, or high school age.
- Funds may be spent only on those activities specified in the grant application or approved in a project or budget revision. Applicants must submit a written request to the Director of Community Impact & Programs at Arts Council prior to implementing any project or budget revisions.
- Some funding is available for artists to conduct programs in private and charter schools.
- Arts-In-Education grants may not be used for scholarships.
Eligibility Criteria
- Individual artists and arts & cultural organizations with an EIN (Employer Identification Number).
- Applicants may apply for one (1) Wells Fargo Arts-In-Education Grant per fiscal year.
- Applicants should demonstrate an ability to successfully communicate in a school environment with children.
- Artists/presenters working in a classroom setting should not only demonstrate strong artistic accomplishments but should be trained and/or experienced presenters/educators.
- Schools are not eligible to apply.
