Yancey County is offering funding for services and support to be provided within the county that fall under Option A of the Memorandum of Agreement between the State of North Carolina and Local Governments on proceeds from the opioid litigation settlement. The following are eligible project areas under Option A:
- Collaborative strategic planning
- Evidence-based addiction treatment
- Recovery support services
- Recovery housing support
- Employment-related services
- Early intervention
- Naloxone distribution
- Post-overdose response team
- Syringe Service Program
- Criminal justice diversion programs
- Addiction treatment for incarcerated persons
- Reentry programs
Funding Information
Yancey County anticipates granting awards between $20,000 and $50,000 per applicant per fiscal year.
Grants Must Be Used For
- A public purpose not otherwise provided by the County or that augments what is offered by the County, and follows the goals set forth in Option A.
- Providing services or programs that are reasonably available to all people located in Yancey County.
Who May Apply
- Organizations must have 501(c)(3) status verification through the IRS. Evidence of 501(c)(3) status must be provided with the application.
- Startup non-profits will be considered for funding but must submit a budget and a plan of operation.
- Applicant organizations that have not been in existence for at least two years or that have not obtained or applied for 501(c)(3) status, may apply under the umbrella of another eligible agency that will serve as the primary applicant and provide fiduciary responsibility.
