The Youth Philanthropy Council of Hutchinson Community Foundation announces the availability of grant funds to support projects benefiting Reno County youth. Grant requests up to $1,000 will be considered from the Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy of Hutchinson Community Foundation.
YPC members from high schools across the county are recruited to:
- Identify and prioritize needs for youth in the community
- Establish criteria for the selection of youth-focused grant proposals
- Review grant proposals
- Make final decisions on which proposals to fund
- Award the grants.
Eligibility Criteria
Proposals must come from organizations that are exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) and serve Reno County, Kansas. Special purpose units of government may apply for support of innovative projects. Community groups who do not have a 501(c)(3) status may apply for grant awards if another tax-exempt organization acts as a fiscal sponsor. Grant proposals from individuals or non-qualifying organizations will not be considered. Applicants must comply with all discrimination laws.
Selection Criteria
Groups and organizations offering programs in Reno County beneficial to youth may apply.
The Youth Philanthropy Council will offer grants for projects which (one or more):
- Are created and/or directed by youth with appropriate organizational supervision
- Promote the healthy development of children and youth
- Introduce children and youth to the fine arts or support their participation in the arts
- Provide opportunities for youth to give back to the community through meaningful service
- Build positive relationships between youth and adults.
- Have a realistic budget and solid plans, including for sustainability beyond the grant period
- Include a signed statement of support from a youth who will be included in and/or served by the project.
