These activities must be within the state of Minnesota only. Artistic areas include dance, literature, media arts, music, theater, visual art, folk and traditional art, etc.
These scholarships provide students in grades 3-12 the opportunity to study their chosen art with a practicing professional artist by taking lessons, and/or attending an arts workshop, series of classes, or special training opportunity. These activities must take place within the state of Minnesota. Payments are made directly to the independent instructor or an arts organization providing the training.
The scholarship can be used to take lessons or pay fees to a private instructor or a non-profit arts organization serving youth. Examples include: Area Art Centers, Dance Conservatory of Southern MN, Mankato Area Youth Symphony Orchestra, Mankato Ballet Company, Mankato Children’s Chorus, Mankato Playhouse, Mankato School of Music, New Ulm Suzuki School of Music, other youth dance or music organizations, or art centers and groups which offer art classes to youth, etc.
Funding Information
- $300 for Grades 3-6
- $500 for Grades 7-12.
Who can apply?
- Students in grades 3-6 can apply for $300 and students in grades 7-12 can apply for $500.
- Current resident of Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, LeSueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca, or Watonwan counties.
- Resident of Minnesota for a minimum of six months prior to application.
- Either a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
