The Department of Employment Services (DOES) Office of Workforce and Federal Programs invites qualified organizations serving in the District of Columbia to apply for the 2024 Providing Older Workers Employment Resources Senior Work Readiness Grant Initiative.

Details:

DOES is requesting applications from qualified organizations who can effectively and efficiently development and implement an innovative training program to serve worker 50+ years of age as they transition into the workforce, specifically in one or more of the District’s six high demand industries, construction, infrastructure (transportation, energy utilities and energy efficient technologies), hospitality, law enforcement, healthcare and information technology (IT). The program should offer a broad range of career and supportive services and credential based workforce readiness training.

Funding Areas

To qualify for the 2024 Providing Older Workers Employment Resources Senior Work Readiness Grant Initiative applicants must provide services that encompass all of the following categories:

  • Basic Career Service;
  • Individual Career Services;
  • Partner Collaboration and Referrals;
  • Workshop;
  • Credential Attainment, Job Placement or Both.

Funding Information

The total amount of funding DOES anticipates being available for award is up to $250,000.

Period of Performance

The “2024 Providing Older Workers Employment Resources (P.O.W.E.R) Senior Work Readiness Program” grant will operate for one year from the date of award.

Target Population

The target population for this funding opportunity are organizations eligible to conduct business in the District of Columbia and serve workers 50+ years of age.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should meet the following program eligibility requirements to apply for the 2024 Providing Older Workers Employment Resources Senior Work Readiness Grant Initiative.

  • Non-profit, community, and faith-based organizations;
  • Community colleges or other post-secondary institutions;
  • Public charter, or alternative secondary schools;
  • Trade associations or chambers of commerce;
  • Private for-profit service providers; or
  • Labor unions, labor-management partnerships, or registered apprenticeship programs;
  • Current on payment of all federal and District taxes, including Unemployment Insurance and Paid Family Leave taxes and Workers’ Compensation premiums.
