The Storefront and Tenant Improvement Programs offer in-kind architectural design services and cash matching grants to help improve business street frontages and/or restaurant interiors.

Grants are made available to properties located in program areas throughout Downtown Beaverton and Allen Boulevard.

Types of Grants

  • Design Grants
    • With these grants, the City of Beaverton will pay for 100% of architect fees. A city-contracted architect will create a new design for you and obtain cost estimates for implementing that design. Types of Design Grants include:
      • Storefront Improvement – Design Grant: A building exterior redesign. Most businesses or commercial buildings located in the Old Town Beaverton or Allen Boulevard Program Areas may apply for this grant.
      • Tenant Improvement – Design Grant: A redesign of interior spaces. Only food and/or beverage-based businesses located in the Tenant Improvement Program Area may apply for this grant.
  • Improvement Grants
    • Improvement grants are recommended for new or existing businesses that plan to renovate a building. Through an improvement grant, the City of Beaverton will pay for up to $50,000 of construction costs associated with your building renovation. Types of Improvement Grants include:
      • Storefront Improvement – Improvement Grant: A grant to support the costs associated with exterior building renovations. Most businesses or commercial buildings located in the Old Town Beaverton or Allen Boulevard Program Areas may apply for this grant.
      • Tenant Improvement – Improvement Grant: A grant to support the costs associated with interior renovations for a new or existing food and/or beverage-based business. Only food and/or beverage-based businesses located in the Tenant Improvement Program Area may apply for this grant.
    • Improvement grants are awarded at two funding levels:
      • Level 1 Grant = 50% city match up to $50,000
        • Minor improvements like new paint colors or signage are typically considered for a Level 1 grant
      • Level 2 Grant = 70% city match up to $50,000
        • Major projects with multiple elements like cladding replacement, storefront door and window replacement, awnings, or lighting are typically considered for a Level 2 grant

Applications are currently open to new restaurants only.
