United Way of Northern California uses Community Impact Grants to invest local dollars into partner nonprofit organizations that address issues affecting their region.

Funding Information

The total funding for the 2022 Community Impact Grant Program is $50,000.

Period of Performance

12 months, beginning on July 1st, 2022, and ending on June 30th, 2023.

Project Examples

  • Vegetation clearance/fuel reduction in high-risk communities or neighborhoods.
  • Partner with similar organizations to strengthen relationships, share resources, and reduce redundancies.
  • Educational outreach about fire-wise and fire adaptive techniques to neighborhoods or communities at high risk for wildfire impact.
  • Workforce training for tending forest ecosystems and traditional land stewardship.
  • Provide water to persons or communities that lose or are threatened with the loss or contamination of water supplies.
  • Address immediate impacts on human health and safety by increasing the availability of water.
  • Educating community members on the benefits of drought-tolerant landscaping.
  • Match funds for other grant-funded projects or proposed projects.
  • Assist community members with the implementation of drought-tolerant landscaping.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants within their nine-county service area (Trinity, Tehama, Siskiyou, Shasta, Plumas, Modoc, Lassen, Glenn, and Butte) are:

  • Private, non-profit organizations that qualify under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code
  • Community Emergency Response Teams
  • Fire Safe Councils
  • Resource Conservation Districts
  • Volunteer Fire Departments
