Innovia Foundation announces Community Grants 2024 – Washington and Idaho

Innovia Foundation works closely with nonprofit organizations and others throughout the region to identify and respond to a wide range of community issues and opportunities. This might be as complex as collaborating with community leaders on a long-range plan for neighborhood preservation, or as basic as funding a program to provide shoes for children from low-income families.

In all cases, Innovia Foundation looks to fund solutions that will create measurable, positive change in the region.

Impact Areas

Innovia Foundation invests in programs in the following impact areas:

  • Health and Wellbeing: Meeting basic human needs, including food, shelter, access to health care, and mental health support.
  • Education and Youth Development: Opening doors to success for children and adults by ensuring they have access to education and the support needed to learn, grow, and thrive. Quality childcare & early Childhood Education
  • Economic Opportunity: Reducing barriers to economic opportunity, security, and/or mobility for low-income individuals and families, and supporting community economic development activities.
  • Quality of Life: Increasing access to opportunities for safe public gathering spaces, social emotional support, and connection to animals and to nature.
  • Arts and Culture: Support the arts as economic drivers, educational assets, civic catalysts, and bridges between cultures.

Disproportionately Impacted Populations

The Foundation knows that nonprofits’ funding needs will far exceed the limited grant dollars. While a broad range of nonprofits are eligible to apply, to the extent possible they will prioritize work that supports the following populations disproportionately impacted by social, economic and/or racial injustices and inequities:

  • Black, Indigenous, Latino/a/x/e, and communities of color
  • Refugees and immigrants
  • Seniors
  • People experiencing disabilities
  • People living on low incomes
  • People who are homeless/unsheltered
  • People living in under-resourced communities and/or communities lacking critical infrastructure
  • People who identify as LGBTQIA+.

Funding Information

Grants will be announced by May 20, 2024. Grant awards are for one year from June 1, 2024 – May 30, 2025. The maximum award amount is $15,000, with most grants in the range of $7,500.

Guiding Principles

Within the impact areas, foundation aims to fund proposals that are a strong fit with one or more of the following Guiding Principles:

  • Respond compassionately to meet basic human needs: The Foundation knows that meeting basic human needs is fundamental to improving the quality of life for everyone. Innovia Foundation will collaborate with community partners to address both systemic issues and immediate needs.
  • Bring people together to build inclusive communities: The Foundation believes in bringing people together and building connections that enrich them all. They seek to develop places and spaces where everyone feels they belong and can participate in decisions that affect their lives.
  • Expand opportunity and reduce inequity: The Foundation recognizes that persistent and systemic disparities diminish opportunities. They will bridge the divide that isolates and prevents members of the community from recognizing and reaching their full potential and will invest in organizations that address the root causes of issues and promote self-sufficiency.

Eligibility Requirements

Awards from Innovia Foundation’s competitive grant programs are determined in partnership with local volunteers from throughout the foundation’s service area. This locally-based advisory process ensures that grant opportunities address the changing needs of the communities.

  • In order to be eligible, applicants must be a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; a federally recognized tribe; or a public entity such as a school district, municipality, or unincorporated group or association. In certain cases, grants can be awarded to non-501(c)(3) organizations for charitable purposes.
  • In all cases, the applicant organization/program must have a clear charitable purpose.
  • Applicants cannot have any delinquent reports for previous grants awarded through all Innovia Foundation’s grant programs.
  • Some grant programs have specific restrictions. Be sure to read grant guidelines carefully to see if any restrictions apply.
