Activities must meet one of the three HUD National Objectives:
- Benefit low to moderate income persons
- Aid in the prevention of slums and blight, or
- Meet other urgent community need such as disaster relief.
The CDBG program distributes federal funds to states, counties and urban cities to fulfill the goals of the program to:
- Provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing
- Provide a suitable living environment
- Expand economic opportunities principally for low and moderate-income persons
The City anticipates receiving approximately $ 250,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to be used for a wide range of activities including, but not limited to, public services, public facilities, infrastructure improvements and housing rehabilitation and service programs. CDBG funds will be allocated according to federal regulations with 15% (approximately $37,500) being available for public services funding; 20% (approximately $50,000) for the City’s program administration costs; and approximately $162,500 for other eligible projects. Eligible projects must be within the city limits of Sierra Vista or provide services to Sierra Vista residents.
