Submit Applications for Provo Arts Grant Program (Utah)

Dated: March 20, 2024

The Provo Arts Grant program is designed to use a portion of the RAP tax fund to support high quality arts projects in Provo City.

Donor Name: Provo City Corporation

State: Utah

City: Provo City

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 06/15/2024

Size of the Grant: $1000 to $10,000

Grant Duration: Grant Duration Not Mentioned

Details:

Qualifying cultural arts disciplines include visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, and arts education. The Provo Arts Grant committee is interested in both large scale and individual art projects.

Funding Information

Interested groups or individuals can apply for grants up to $5,000.

Criteria

Provo Arts Grants will be reviewed and evaluated based on the following:

  • Quality of the artists, arts organizations, arts education providers, works of art, or services that the project will involve, as appropriate
  • Artistic and/or cultural significance of the project
  • Potential impact on local artists and the local arts scene as well as the general population of Provo City
  • The potential to celebrate Provo’s creativity and cultural heritage, invite mutual respect for differing beliefs and values, or to enrich the community
  • The ability to carry out the project based on factors including the appropriateness of the budget, the quality and clarity of the project goals and design, the resources involved, and the qualifications of the project’s personnel
  • The potential to reach under served populations such as those whose access to the arts are limited

Qualifications

  • Qualifying organizations requesting funds must be a nonprofit entity with 501(c)(3) status at the time of the application. Artists or groups that are not 501(c)(3) cultural arts organizations may request funds through a fiscal organization that has their 501(c)(3) status as long as there is a signed agreement between the two groups.
  • All qualifying organizations may apply for funding once per fiscal year. However, as long as they are not the primary presenter on more than one application, groups can be the fiscal sponsor for multiple projects. Late submissions are not accepted.

Funding Limitations

RAP grant funding for cultural organizations may not be used for the following expenditures:

  • Accumulated deficits or debt retirement;
  • Capital improvements;
  • Public Schools and/or school programs or hiring of temporary or permanent staff in any school or school system;
  • Lobbying Expenses;
  • Scholarships, purchase awards or cash prizes;
  • Non-arts related magazines or newspapers;
  • Broadcasting network or cable communications systems;
  • Performances, events or activities that take place outside of Provo City;
  • Activities intended primarily for fundraising;
  • Non-arts related recreational, rehabilitative, or therapeutic programs;
  • Social service programs;
  • Fireworks;
  • Rodeos;
  • Activities that are primarily religious in purpose;
  • Start-up organizations;
