The purpose of the fund is to promote the well-being of the Greater New Bedford Area to support those 501(c)(3) local organizations that have the following characteristics relative to the core values of the Henry H. Crapo Foundation Fund:
- Demonstrable impact on the issue being addressed.
- A commitment to excellence in its work.
- Ability to be a catalyst for larger change.
- Addresses a clear community need.
- Strategically filling a funding gap that is otherwise difficult to fill.

Maximum level of funding for one-year grants from this fund is $10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Qualified 501(c)3 nonprofit, governmental, educational and religious organizations are eligible to apply for grants.
- The SouthCoast Community Foundation does not make grants to individuals.
