Grants are awarded to organizations that provide services and programs to the community in the areas of social welfare, education, youth services, youth centers, homelessness, substance abuse prevention and treatment, animal management, and other public service programs.
Funding Information
- Mental Health Programs – up to $250,000.
- Immigrant and Migrant Services – up to $400,000.
Grant Period
The remaining months of FY2025 (Notice to Proceed to June 30, 2025) and FY2026 (July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026).
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Hawaii, or a nonprofit organization determined to be exempt from federal income tax by the Internal Revenue Service.
- In case of a nonprofit organization, have a governing board whose members have no material conflict of interest and serve without compensation.
- Have bylaws or policies which describe the manner in which business is conducted. Such bylaws or policies shall include provisions relating to nepotism and management of potential conflict of-interest situations.
- Be licensed and accredited in accordance with applicable requirements of federal, state, and county governments, as necessary.
Immigrant and Migrant Services – Minimum Service Requirements:
Grant applications must address the following items within the program narrative.
- Must be able to provide direct legal services for immigrants and migrants residing in Maui County through either
- a licensed immigration attorney; or
- by having, or obtaining within one year of award, accreditation and recognition by the U.S. Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review, Recognition and Accreditation Program.
- Must provide services without charge or at a reasonably reduced rate to immigrant and migrant clients.
- Must be able to accept, document and report on clients referred by the County of Maui, Department of Human Concerns, Immigrant Services Division.
- Must provide in-person services within Maui County.
- Must be able to track and report on the immigration and migrant benefit processes, applications and services provided.
