Details:
Green Grants support discrete projects that deliver measurable greenhouse gas reduction for the Telluride community. Examples of projects may include energy and water efficiency upgrades, renewable energy installations, and more. All projects must be tangible, provide measurable greenhouse gas reduction through decreased electrical and fossil fuel use, and have a lifespan of no less than 5 years.
Objectives
Telluride Green Grants support projects that meet the following objectives for the Town of Telluride:
- Measurably reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with the Town of Telluride community.
- Decrease energy and/or water consumption within or associated with the Town of Telluride.
- Promote waste reduction, energy efficiency, water efficiency, and renewable energy systems.
- Leverage rebates and other funding sources.
- Promote environmental and economic sustainability.
- Increase public awareness on the benefits of energy efficiency, water use efficiency, renewable energy, and GHG reduction.
Funding Information
Grants of $500 to $40,000 are available to qualified applicants.
Who may apply?
Eligible recipients are for-profit and non-profit organizations, government entities, and individuals.
All proposals will be judged according to the following criteria:
- Environmental benefit — Projects must provide measurable greenhouse gas emission reductions (using standard EPA protocols) and have low negative impact on surrounding natural resources.
- Cost effectiveness — Projects should be financially sustainable. (Projects with matching funds and/or private investment are highly encouraged.)
- Public Visibility and Education — Projects that increase public awareness and understanding of greenhouse gases and energy related issues are encouraged. Public projects must be willing to visibly promote the Telluride Green Grants Program through posting information, Telluride logo, certificate, etc.
- Community Benefit — Projects with benefits that accrue to a larger portion of the Telluride community and not just the grantee.
- Community Assistance — Projects that benefit those who are least able to afford high energy costs (seniors, low income) are encouraged.
- Innovation and/or Unique Opportunity — Projects should attempt to use the most innovative designs available. Projects should also take advantage of local resources and circumstantial opportunities as available.
- Technology — Projects can support proven technologies and designs or new technology that is suitable for the region.
- Readiness — Projects that have approvals and can be completed within 12 months.
