The Challenge supports opportunities to scale, expand, or pilot evidence-based people powered student supports, and it is designed to bring together communities to plan and prepare for the sustainability of effective efforts. Additional points will be given to 1) applicants looking to utilize people-powered supports as part of a larger strategy to address chronic absenteeism in their communities and/or 2) applicants engaging high school students in NPSS-aligned roles. Priority will also be given to applicants who have been proven conveners in their community and can demonstrate the ability to activate networks to address a common goal. Successful state-level applicants will identify the districts they intend to engage through the collaboration and how any funds will be used to support district engagement. Similarly, successful non-profit applicants and higher ed institutions should plan to identify school(s) or district(s) identified for collaboration.
Funding Information
Awards will range from $5,000-$10,000 and the amount will be determined based on the scale and scope of the proposed activities. All deliverables must be completed by June 15, 2025.
Allowable Uses
- Expenses related to convening stakeholders are the allowable uses of this funding.
- Stipend funds may not be used for any of the following purposes: to attempt to influence legislation or the outcome of any specific public election; to carry on, directly or indirectly, any voter registration drive; or to undertake any activities for a non-charitable purpose.
- Stipend funds may not be used for purchases of alcohol or first or business class travel.
Who may apply?
US-based community-based organizations (CBOs), schools, districts, local government organizations, or non-profit organizations that are interested in serving as a leader in their community to spur cross-sector collaboration and/or to establish a local or state-level partnership for student success. For profit organizations and individuals are not eligible.
