The Department of Arts & Culture offers Artist Grants to San Antonio-based professional artists working in the following disciplines:
- literary arts
- media arts
- multi-disciplinary arts
- performing arts
- visual arts.
Funding Information
Annual grants of $7,500 and $15,000 support artists in their creation of new work. Artists can apply individually or as part of a collective/ensemble.
Grant Period
Competitive annual grant with18-month term.
Eligibility Criteria
- Live within San Antonio city limits or operate an artistic business/studio within the city limits
- In good standing with Federal, State, City of San Antonio, and the Department of Arts & Culture
- Professional portfolio that includes published and/or publicly displayed work
- Demonstrate a clear investment of time and resources into the creation of new works
- At least three years of relevant work experience, or has received specialized training in their artistic field, such as a degree or certification.
Restrictions
- Artists may only submit one application in one grant tier per cycle
- Beginning with FY26, artists must take one year off from applying after being awarded an artist grant. The primary and secondary artist applying as a collective that are awarded a grant must take a year off after being awarded.
